Hanoi students explore the history of the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam through the knowledge playground
The contest is organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam.

This is one of the activities aimed at celebrating the 950th anniversary of the founding of Quoc Tu Giam (1076 – 2026), while contributing to bringing the historical and cultural values of the heritage closer to students in a lively and interactive form.
Through the program, students learn more deeply about the tradition of studiousness, respect for teachers, the spirit of using talented people, and cultural values that have been preserved for many generations.
Speaking at the contest, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Pham Tuan Long said this is a playground for students to demonstrate their knowledge, and at the same time directly explore and feel the typical cultural values of the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam.
Thereby, children have more opportunities to better understand the history, national culture as well as the studious tradition of their ancestors.
The contest had the participation of students from three Chu Van An secondary schools in Tay Ho ward, Viet Hung ward and Thanh Tri commune.
Each team consists of 10 students and goes through three competitions including greetings – introductions, knowledge and creative skills.
The contest content focuses on the history of formation and development of the special National Monument of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam from 1070 to the present.
In addition, the teams also learned about the system of 82 Doctoral stelae registered by UNESCO as a World Documentary Heritage, typical celebrities and the academic tradition of Vietnam.
The competitions not only require knowledge but also focus on presentation ability, coordination skills among members and creativity in expression.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Nguyen Van Hien said the competition is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge and awareness, while continuing to practice to become good children and good students, useful to their families, communities, the Capital and the country.
The Organizing Committee awarded 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize and 1 Impressive Performance Award.
The First Prize went to Chu Van An Secondary School, Thanh Tri commune.
Chu Van An Secondary School, Viet Hung Ward, won the Second Prize, while the Third Prize was awarded to Chu Van An Secondary School, Tay Ho Ward. 
Besides the main prizes, the Organizing Committee also awarded three thematic prizes to participating schools.
Among them, the Effective Interactive Space Award went to Chu Van An Secondary School, Tay Ho ward; The Impressive Experience Space Award was given to Chu Van An Secondary School, Viet Hung ward; and the Creative Experience Space Award went to Chu Van An Secondary School, Thanh Tri commune.
Through the competition, the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam is not only approached as a historical relic but also becomes a visual learning space, helping students connect knowledge with real-life experiences.
The activity also contributes to arousing the young generation’s interest in heritage, national history and studious traditions, thereby raising awareness of preserving and promoting cultural values in today’s life.
