From a small kitchen in the old town to today’s Hanoian Kitchen: A journey to preserve the flavor of Hanoi’s home cooked rice
Amidst the modern and bustling flow of the city, there are still people who quietly cook meals that reflect the soul of Hanoi – simple, sophisticated and full of love. Hanoian Kitchen is one of those places: starting from a small kitchen in an old house, and now has become a familiar meeting place for those who love traditional Vietnamese cuisine.
It started from a small kitchen in the heart of the old town
The story of Hanoian Kitchen began in 2018, when a small house in Hanoi’s Old Quarter was renovated into alovely hostel, has a small cafe corner and a kitchen serving lunch to guests from near and far.
At that time, the first people who came to eat called this place“Hanoian Kitchen”– because it is truly a kitchen with the soul of Hanoi: simple, cozy and familiar like a home meal. There is no elaborate menu, just familiar dishes such as braised meat, fish in tomato sauce, tofu marinated with onions, sour water spinach soup… but cooked with all the meticulousness and affection of Hanoians.

Then the Covid-19 pandemic struck, and the hostel was forced to close. The kitchen is silent, but the fire of love for Hanoi cuisine is still smoldering. For the founders of Hanoian, cooking is not only for business, but also a way to preserve the city’s memories and culture.
Return journey – a warmer Hanoian in the heart of Linh Lang
In 2022, Hanoian returns with a new look:Hanoian Kitchen on Linh Lang street. The space is smaller, but warmer. There, customers – mostly office workers and people far from home – find a sense of familiarity at the family dinner table.
“What makes customers come back is not only the delicious food, but the kindness in every meal,” a familiar guest shared.
At Hanoian Kitchen, each bowl of crab soup, plate of mackerel with tomato sauce, piece of fried beans… carries with it the flavor of old Hanoi – rustic but precise, sophisticated in every detail.
Return to the old town – keep the soul of Hanoi’s home cooking
By 2025, after a challenging journey, Hanoian decidedReturning to the first name – Hanoian Kitchen, located atAn old apartment building on Hoang Ngoc Phach street (Dong Da district, Hanoi).

The new space has a modest area, but is full of thoughtfulness and sophistication. Familiar items – wooden table, old enamel bowl set, faded rice cooker – are still retained, just like how Hanoian preserves Hanoi’s memories in every small detail.
“We don’t want Hanoian Kitchen to become a luxury restaurant. It will always be oneReal kitchen of Hanoi people, a place to cook authentic home-cooked meals – the way Hanoi people still cook for their loved ones,” Hanoian representative shared.
Lunch – where memories and present harmonize
This October, Hanoian Kitchen is only open for serviceLunch for office workers and guests who love to eat at home. The menu changes every day, revolving around familiar dishes but meticulously prepared to maintain traditional flavors.

The menu on October 14, 2025, for example, is a small picture of Hanoi cuisine:

Preserving Hanoi’s culinary culture with love and kindness
During the journey of more than 7 years, Hanoian Kitchen is not simply a culinary address, but alsoa story about love in Hanoi– where people and food blend together to create a space that feels “home”.
There, people not only come to eat, but also to stayfind yourself again, to remember childhood meals, to feel attachment, kindness and simplicity – values that sometimes modern cities are gradually losing.
