Hanoi plans to hold a concert for 60,000 people on the occasion of Vietnamese Culture Day

Hanoi plans to organize a special art program and concert with a scale of about 60,000 spectators on Vietnam Culture Day November 24. This is one of the highlight activities in the series of Cultural events - Great National Solidarity taking place from November 18 to 24, aiming to create a mark for the first year of organizing Vietnam Culture Day nationwide.

At the meeting to implement Vietnam Culture Day activities on the morning of October 12, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra requested Hanoi city to prepare special art programs and concerts with great appeal, while absolutely ensuring security and safety requirements during the organization. November 24, 2026 will be the first time Vietnam Culture Day is held, so the activities in the first year are expected to not only create a vibrant atmosphere but also gradually shape the value, organization and long-term vitality of this event in social life.

According to a representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry is coordinating with Hanoi city to develop a specific plan for the program. Besides the large-scale concert, many other activities are also being prepared such as the program “Vietnam Sound 2026” combining digital platforms and live activities, the media campaign “Journey to experience Vietnamese Culture 2026” and Vietnam Film Week. The Vietnam Cultural Digital Map is expected to be announced on November 1, while by October 9, all 34 provinces and cities have been granted accounts and instructions to update data on this platform. A series of Cultural Week – Great National Solidarity activities will take place from November 18 to 24. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is assigned to complete the operational framework guidelines before October 15, and at the same time coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front to advise on inviting and assigning Party and State leaders and National Assembly delegates to attend activities at the grassroots. The Ministry will also guide the unification of messages, slogans and decorations to create uniformity in the implementation process across the country. Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra said that the preparation work for Vietnam Culture Day in some places is still not really thorough and does not stick to the set goals. Connecting Vietnamese Culture Day with the Great National Solidarity Festival into a week of continuous activities is expected to create a widespread series of events, capable of going deep into people’s lives instead of just focusing on large-scale programs at the center. According to this orientation, activities need to be brought to communes, wards, villages, hamlets and residential groups, thereby creating more space for exchange between people, families, generations, ethnicities and religions. The goal is not only to organize a cultural festival but also to strengthen community cohesion, foster village love and create conditions for people to directly participate and experience cultural values in their own places. The Deputy Prime Minister also encouraged cultural units, attractions and research service facilities to open more widely, extend service hours, and apply appropriate fee exemption or reduction policies on this occasion. The organization is required to be convenient, close to the people and suitable for each target group, so that Vietnam Culture Day is not just a symbolic event but becomes an activity that the public actively waits for and participates in each year.

According to the agreed policy, November 24 every year is chosen as Vietnamese Culture Day and is a public holiday, workers are given time off and receive full salary. This policy was agreed upon by the Politburo in January and legislated by the National Assembly in September 2026. With the first year of implementation, activities from large concerts in Hanoi, art programs, film weeks, digital platforms to grassroots events are expected to create a widespread cultural space, helping Vietnam Culture Day gradually become an occasion for common cultural activities of the community.
