Different ideas

Located in a versatile cultural and entertainment complex, the Hanoi Opera Theater project and the theme cultural and artistic park has a total area of ​​40 hectares, of which, Hanoi Opera House is built on the beautiful lake of Tri Tri lake as a masterpiece of art. The theater has two large auditorial rooms: Opera auditorium accommodating 1,797 seats (3 folding Hanoi Opera House, approximately Esplanade Singapore); The versatile auditorium can accommodate nearly 1,000 seats. The most special impression of the theater is the arched architecture inspired by the ripples of West Lake, covered with a layer of material to create a boy learning effect to be able to reflect the color of the West Lake water surface according to the movement of the time of the day.

This dome is an unprecedented special structure in the world, with extremely thin roof cover, thickness only ranges from 200m – 600mm and super bearing. To create this dome, architects must apply digital technology, with the most advanced software in areas such as geometry, finite element analysis, and non -linear analysis according to time history.

Seen from the outside, the curved dome is very natural, but the fact is the result of a very intensive research process of architect Renzo Piano from biological simulation of the structure of bones, snail shells, bird skulls …, or studies on the veins of lilies floating on the water. This ultra -thin and curved roof design not only reminds the beauty of West Lake, creating an elegant shape for the project, but also creates a cool space to help naturally absorbing the wind, and the music shows are best filtered.

Before the idea of ​​designing Hanoi Opera Theater, KTS Renzo Piano has used for many years to study the historical culture of Hanoi. He was fascinated by the beauty, the old cultural stories and the legend of the West Lake area, where the ancient national town of Tran Quoc, has a sacred West Lake, has a sweet lotus lake. Therefore, he inspired Hanoi to blow into the theater design, with a soft and poetic west lake wave dome.

The project is also designed to create more green space for Tay Ho land associated with cultural heritage from thousands of lives of Kinh Kinh land. The ponds and lakes around the area such as Pho Linh pagoda pond, Thuy porcelain lake … will be invested in cleaning, renovating, restoring and planting Tay Ho lotus, making a great green park for people and tourists to enjoy and enjoy the beauty of the “green jade” in the heart of the capital.
