The Vietnam Youth Union received the First Class Labor Medal after 70 years of development
The Central Vietnam Youth Union recently organized in Hanoi the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Youth Union. This is an opportunity for delegates to look back at the organization’s formation, construction and development over seven decades, while honoring the contributions of many generations of Vietnamese youth to the country. The highlight of the program was that the Vietnam Youth Union was awarded the First Class Labor Medal, marking another important milestone in the organization’s operational journey.
Speaking at the celebration, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Vietnam Youth Union Nguyen Kim Quy emphasized that the history of the Association is always associated with each stage of the nation’s development. From the period of struggle for independence and national unification to the current work of innovation, construction and development, generations of officials, members and young people have promoted the spirit of patriotism, solidarity, volunteerism and responsibility to the community. Although the tasks of each period change, the proactive spirit, willingness to undertake difficult jobs and be present in places where youth is needed still becomes a prominent feature throughout the activities of Vietnamese youth.
According to the Chairman of the Central Vietnam Youth Union, the achievements the organization has today are the result of continuity and dedication over many generations. Behind the 70-year journey are not only large-scale policies or movements but also the contributions of the Association’s staff, members and youth working at the grassroots. Continuous inheritance between generations has helped the Association maintain its role in gathering young people, organizing volunteer movements and creating an environment for young people to contribute to the community, society and country. At the celebration, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the Vietnam Youth Union. This is a State award recognizing the Association’s persistent contributions in many stages of development. Previously, the organization was awarded the First Class Independence Medal in 1999 and the Ho Chi Minh Medal in 2005. For officers and members, these awards are both a pride in the past journey and a responsibility to continue innovating and improving the effectiveness of youth work in the coming years.
The celebration is part of a series of activities towards the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Youth Union. Many programs are organized to recreate the Association’s development journey, honor beautiful stories in the community and spread the image of a young generation rich in ideals, responsibility and dedication. These activities not only look back at the organization’s history but also draw attention to the role of youth in the face of the country’s new demands. According to data announced at the celebration, the Vietnam Youth Federation currently has more than 9 million members, organized in 34 provinces and cities, with 9 affiliated units and 7 collective member organizations. The membership is very diverse, including students, workers, farmers, young officials, young businessmen, overseas Vietnamese youth and many youth groups active in different professions and fields. The scale and diversity of this force create great advantages for the Association’s work, and also create a requirement to regularly innovate ways of approaching, gathering and accompanying young people. In the context of young people’s ways of learning, working, connecting and living changing dramatically under the impact of technology and digital transformation, the Vietnam Youth Union determines that innovating content and methods of operation is an important task. Chairman of the Central Association Nguyen Kim Quy emphasized the need to expand the gathering of young people, arousing the sense of responsibility, the will to rise and the desire to contribute to the country. The Association’s work therefore needs to adapt to the needs and characteristics of the young generation in the digital age, while continuing to create practical environments for young people to practice and contribute. Entering a new stage of development, the role of youth is placed in the context of the country promoting digital transformation, deep international integration, improving the quality of human resources and aiming for rapid and sustainable development. With more than 9 million members, a widespread organizational network and a foundation built over 70 years, the Vietnam Youth Union has the conditions to continue promoting its role in connecting, supporting and rallying young people to participate in common tasks of the country.
From the traditional foundation, the requirement in the coming period is to transform the spirit of initiative and volunteerism into specific activities, from youth projects and community programs to start-up and creative initiatives of young people. The First Class Labor Medal therefore not only recognizes the past journey but also becomes a motivation for the staff, members and youth to continue preserving the values of the organization, innovating operating methods and continuing the journey of dedication of Vietnamese youth.
